In my opinion, these are pretty good photos considering that they were taken with a camcorder. I have owned several different models of Sony Cybershot and I think the TR model is just the right size for my ski parka's pocket. Any of the cybershots would take photos with higher definition and tonal qualities.

Thanks protege. Those are really nice pix. I had no idea you were using still frames from a video cam. This camera will be a Christmas gift for a video camera beginner so needs to be fairly simple, but I don't want it to be obsolete in a year, either :)
Interesting to compare the mini dvd models and the hard drive models. A proliferation of electronica choices...
