I doubt anyone has any clear idea of what will happen if the US were to pull out in a few months. Will there be more fighting or will that force a settlement? At any rate, if we take our munitions with us, at least they won't be fighting each other with our stuff. Who knows? It's clear that Bush and co have zero will to actually win -- have a stable occupation long enough to install a western-style, pro-bigbiz representative democracy -- as they refuse to say DRAFT and SACRIFICE. Playing whack-a-mole with 'the army you have' as Rumsfeld disdainfully put it, just lengthens the stay in Iraq long enough to blame the Dems for what happens there. After we weren't greeted with flowers and flags, that's all the Republicans were interested in anyway: BLAMING DEMOCRATS. There must have been an UH-OH moment a couple of years ago when the Neocon fantasty gave way to insurgent reality. After all, we only see snippets of what goes on there, the Republicans must have seen much more ugliness. They must have realized that all they could do was extend, extend, extend until someone else fixed their mistake or there were no more US taxpayer dollars to steal. After their UH-OH moment, it was only ever about stealing. Have you noticed that there are no more milestones and benchmarks? We've gone from the defeat of the Republican guard and the finding of Saddam to the elections to the Constitution to the 300K trained to...NADA. The only benchmarks left are the 'redeploy' ones.
