Opting out in Canada

Alia Hogben laments the disappearance of the ordinary Muslim woman in Canada.

"I used to be a mother, a daughter, a social worker, a farm woman. All those were aspects of me. Now I'm only a Muslim woman. That's the only thing that comes to the forefront, and that's since Sept. 11," says Ms. Hogben, executive director of the Canadian Council of Muslim Women. "You can't even be ordinary any more."
