I can't see why people get so steamed about the idea that some families are less intelligent than others. We all know it's true.

Distinctions in intelligence are apparent not only between families but are easily apparent within families.

In the US, we are all allegedly born equal, despite ex post facto biological proof to the contrary, so we labor under the impossible notion that we could somehow be equal in fact if we could somehow fix whatever external factor might be at work which renders us unequal.

So, we search and search, putting in place all kinds of silly plans - affirmative action, constitutional amendments, non-discrimination laws, etc. - designed to stamp out this ineffable and nebulous factor which, if found and eliminated, might lead us into perfect equality. The "Chris" article was a great example of this search.

Silly, stupid, call it what you will, it is an uniquely American negation that there are distinct and often overwhelming differences in talent, energy, ambition, and intelligence which simply cannot be denied or accounted for. I say unique because we are also open to new ideas, an openness which results in the blossoming of thousands of talents in an often dizzying manner. A strange contradiction. I often wonder what we could create if we were not brainwashed with this idea of perfect equality, an idea which has lead to some very silly things, mainly in the bizarre world of PCness.
