That's a bit of a strawman argument.

I wasn't saying anything about people serving in Iraq, I was saying that forcing un-deportable illegal aliens to serve in Iraq was the equivilent of enslaving them.

I am against forcing un-deportable aliens to serve in Iraq.

Re those currently serving in Iraq, I think you have to look at it on a person-by-person basis. There are many heroes, there are a few villains, and then there are the vast majority who are just doing their jobs.

Some of the soldiers are basically wage slaves, paying huge interest rates for short term loans on their paychecks. Congress is actually moving to cap the short term interest rate that can be charged at 36%. If that sounds high, consider the fact that many are paying interest rates in the 100% to 1,000% range on loans guaranteed by their military paychecks.

Give them a break! Even if many of us question the wisdom of fighting a war of oil. The poor souls should not be exploited.
