Why does civil disobedience equate to treason to the right wing? Henry David Thoreau wrote about the importance of not supporting a government that you don't agree with. To my mind criticism of the Government seems the very essence of democracy and free speech and this is the sort of thing that has made America so great a nation. Does it not occur that unquestioning adherence to the Government line was what Saddam Hussein had accomplished in Iraq? I think Kerry is a great Patriot for first so willingly serving his country and then standing firm to his convictions that the Vietnam War was wrong.
