The "good old boy" network really can't help being who they are. It's up to us to lift ourselves beyond that point. Haven't the Asians already tried to do it the 'right' way by getting the education and experience that makes them at least equivalent to whites and still they get screwed? I don't mind paying dues but when you pay your dues and still get shortchanged, then you are being stupid by accepting it. For too long, I believe Asians have seen themselves as 'the special minority' in this country. Asians have done whatever they can to ape the dominant race even getting the clothes down better than whites. Look at the Asian Charlie, on a bad day she is put together better than Diaz and Barrymore are on their good days. It seems to me that whatever prestige the Asians get as the 'quality or special minority' in this country is not worth the economic cut they get in salary. Personally, I see affirmative action as a borderline conspiracy to just placate those minorities and give token lip service to their problems. Diversity just for the sake of diversity might work well for television where image is everything, but it's a false sense of security to those who believe in it, and it will only increase the demand for handouts. Affirmative Action exists because whites will not give up the economic and political power willingly. Asians remind me of Log Cabin gays.............in serious denial when it comes to reality. Remember: there would be no need for affirmative action if all men [and women] were born equal in this country......and treated as such. But don't take my word for it. Look at the black firefighter who tried to get $2.7M for "racial harassment." You don't think he's trying to take advantage of the whole politically correct movement? I am not condoning his behavior nor am I encouraging Asians to do the same thing. I just suggesting that Asians might want to demand their fair share of the pie. And no, harris, I am not Asian.
