As well, that last youtube video from r-e (Bloody Police Takeover) is far from showing either a high level of civic unrest or a brutal police response. (Don't know if those were federal troops instead of federal police, but either way the facts are as shown and reported).

Sad to see one guy dead on the video, but the footage largely confirms the restraint shown as the gov't reasserted control of the city for the governor. You don't have to like or agree with gov'ts (I rarely do) to recognize they are going to use their monopoly on force to vindicate what they declare to be election outcomes. People who want to close off the city to a duly or dirtily elected gov't take a chance when they stand up to do that against the police, even if they are peaceful and walking backwards. We don't see on the video whatever generated the tear gas and gunshots, nor do we see who was shooting or at whom.

The protestors clearly showed by their actions and their words that they don't fear the police and didn't have any reason to, as long as they didn't try to stop them from reasserting control for the benefit of the duly elected government. The governor has legal status even if his PRIsta cronies counted the votes, or if he is awful even by PRI standards (I have no idea). At some point the election is over and you have to wait on the next one. You can protest but you can't expect to get away with kicking out or intimidating out the governing officials you don't like.

Where is Jimmy Carter when we need a vote count close to home, anyway? In Miami?
