Al, I meant what I said. Why would those who protested against the Vietnam war and burned their draft cards now all of a sudden be for the draft?

The only explanation that comes even close to explaining this contradiction is this: They want to relive the days of Vietnam.

Gee, from denial to "explanation" ... we are making progress. You hit on it too...a bunch of nostalgic hippies who don't wish to deter another destructive unnecessary war...nah, your explanation is entirely more rational and measured...

what were you saying about shadow boxing?

Al

Because, we're all too OLD to be drafted. We don't like these little hip hop punks or their music. Maybe if they had legally mandated slavery threatening to send them to foreign lands to kill or be killed, they'd develop a little anti-war passion, the worthless scuts. And maybe they'd write some decent music too!

Simple. A draft is the fastest way to end this occupation. Bring in the draft today, the invasion will be over tomorrow. How? All those flag-waving SUV-driving "warriors" will join the anti-war crowd when they realize that it is their butts or their children's butts that could get blown up!

Draft card burners weren't so much against the draft as they were against the war. Eliminating the draft wouldn't have done anything but eliminated that particular way of protesting.
