Why would those who protested against the Vietnam war and burned their draft cards now all of a sudden be for the draft?

Moron! Those who protested against the Vietnam War were against the war. And they are supporting the draft now because that is the best way to increase the ranks of the anti-war folks. If your own butt or your kids' butts, is/are on the line, then even you will develop a "fresh" perspective on the war! LOL!

What an idiot!

To deter another destructive unnecessary war? Funny how Vietnam lasted 10 years and cost 20X the number of American lives WITH the draft. There's no logic to anti-war supporters supporting the draft. Only emotions which you think excuse the irrational.

Even if you don't believe in its deterrent effect, you can't sustain a long difficult war without conscription... Vietnam could not be fought without it, despite your mocking of it.

There are only so many ways you can say the same thing. Read before responding.
