The invasion was carried out in pursuit of the neocon PNAC/Clean Break memoranda which were purely ideological fantasies directed at rearranging the Mid East in a way that would suit both Israel and the US. In fact, it was the neocons' belief that invading US forces would be greeted with garlands of flowers by the grateful Iraqis. All that had to be done was that Saddam's memory and that of the Baathists had to be removed. IMO, the original plan was naive in the extreme and was conducted with traditional US arrogance and hubris. Thus the invasion quickly turned into an asymmetric war as the insurgents focused on the invading forces as the principal target of their anger and frustration and not Saddam's memory or internecine hatred. I believe that's when the idea of breaking up Iraq was put into action because it's always been a Zionist aim to "liberate" the Kurds and reconstitute Kurdistan as an ally of Israel. This plan was executed by promoting sectarian violence using gangs of unidentified killers who, as far as I am concerned, could as easily have been Americans or Israelis as anyone else. Of course, the MSM always blames Al Qaeda involvement which makes me think that my supposition is probably correct to a considerable extent. Now it's clear even that plan has been botched. Iraq is like Humpty Dumpty or Pandora's Box, however one sees it, and the US/UK forces just want out ASAP.
