our roof is corrugated - forget what gauge, but its pretty skookum. we ordered charcoal, but it looks brown. there are a number of dark green steel roofs in the area that look really nice. it will outlast us i'm sure. we also heat our house with wood - we have an airtight stove on the main floor. it provides a really nice ambience as well. good luck with your apple orchard.
