Well, for one thing, who knows if Dell gets a better deal than HP?

When Dell buys higher volume than HP, it may become possible. But in the meantime, HP still very likely has higher volume, therefore either equal or better deal.

For another, channel ASPs are certainly higher than what Dell pays. Isn't that the major shift?

Not exactly a shift, but a result of the shortage. ASPs may be under more pressure if more discounted OEM sales take place over less discounted channel. But that's a temporary situation. More permanent situation is addition of Dell, which can't be bad.
