Just think what those economic numbers could look like if Congress and the White House had practiced even a modicum of spending restraint. Let's say that instead of increasing domestic spending by the highest level since Johnson this very past fiscal year(9%), they had increased it only 5%....or maybe kept it in line with Cost of Living...2.8 -3.2%....Wow....imagine how good the ratios would be...and we wouldn't be modernizing China on our dime or borrowing against our kid's futures...

Gee. This is like Bill Clinton "balancing the budget" during a bubble...credit where credit is due, but keep it in context. There is a lot of work left to be done by true fiscal conservatives..if any are left.

Oh, and since numbers are our friends, what was the deficit as a percentage of GDP during the last four of Clinton's years in office?
