"Not using the M word" isn't just a matter of semantics and word choice. They consider it to be immoral (or as your article says "evil", although I wouldn't use that word even if I shared their general moral opinion) because they consider it a betrayal of the proper nature of sex and sexual relationships. (Which they consider to be sex between spouses who are open to having the sex result in a child). They don't consider the intentional prevention of conception to be anything like murder, or killing of any sort. Its immoral in their opinion, but its a far lesser immorality in their opinion then abortion.

I don't really share their opinion here.
