I recall AMD lay off of maybe 300 people, mostly sales, about a month ago, sorry no link. This fits nicely with the channel shortage theories.

Probably the WB maker is/was yielding more ASP, but with higher cost of doing business.

Hector has made references to Intel's alleged pricing schemes, saying ~"he can't conceive of AMD doing such". A person of good faith may take that to mean straight ahead discount on volume...

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Doing business with Dell is going to take from the WBs. I don't like it but anyone who doesn't realize that hasn't thought it through. I have to assume Hector and Co have thought it over, decided to built capacity, purchase ATI, etc. Preparation for a duopoly?

For a large block of time, Intel was the industry. Has that time passed?
