He did. He worked in the jewelry store about 50 hours a week, plus he worked weekend doing contract work for the overflow from that store and others. My mother worked once we were all in school. But women couldn't make much money in Beaumont at the time. It was assumed that they were just making supplemental money.

They had three kids.
