Americans can be weenies, and yes they were scared in to this war like frightened little bunny rabbits. It was mostly republicans whining and crying about how "9/11 changed everything" and what a "danger" Saddam was, and how scared they were that something was going to happen in their town and blah blah blah blah blah, but the news media could find someone in just about any town- now matter how ludicrous it was as a target- who would say, "I'm so afraid the terrorists are going to attack me." That person was in much greater danger from a car accident or their diet or lack of exercise, but what was their number one fear? Terrorism. Frightened bunny rabbits- and easily manipulated bunny rabbits at that. The posts are here on SI- you can find thet same sort of "I'm so scared" garbage. It's easy enough to find them. The biggest coward though, imo, is the man who makes the foolish decision and won't own up to it- and that man is Mr. Bush.

I don't know how you missed the trembling fearful masses on SI who wanted to hide behind the big strong men of the US military, who would, presumably, save them from more 9/11's by invading Iraq (a country which had nothing to do with 9/11). Fearful and stupid makes for a pretty dismal picture, but that's what we had in this country, and the results are pretty much what you'd expect from a bunch of stampeded fearful people doing stupid things.
