The US military won't be out in the streets stopping them so it will be open season unless some sort of overarching deal is reached very quickly. After the events of the past several days (I'm typing this Sunday night, the 26th), the "very quickly" looks to me to have ended. I just don't see the means by which this comes to an end. And now I worry about the larger implications, not only the regional conflict potentiality but because of the centrality of oil, the still large implications.
