I won't even try to convince you. I don't see it as a lie. You think as you please.

But evidently you think that Gates just "appeared on the doorstep, and was taken in...."

Rumsfeld had offered his resignation several times over the years. It was always on the table.

You seem to want to damn Bush no matter what he does.

On one hand, you would have us believe that Gates was a pick, and had had no background check in detail. Of course he did.

On the other hand, you wanted Bush to make the choice before the election. He told us that he didn't want politics and decisions regarding the Miliary to be intertwined.

On the other hand, you blame Bush for making the decision after the election, evidently thinking that had something to do with the losses.

Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. Either way, its better than a finger in the wind to test the current hotairflow. We all know what happens to lying fingers....

On the other hand, If George Bush had announced that he was replacing Rumsfeld just prior to the Election, he would have been accused of doing it just to buy votes. So no matter what he did, if he replaced Rumsfeld Democrats would have said he did it for the wrong reasons or in the wrong way, similar to the voting machines that only work right when Democrats win.

I never had sex with that women comes to mind. Never thought I would think of Bush in the same way as I thought of Clinton but he has in fact looked me in the eye and lied. No other way to put it IMO.
