You didn't read my post did you? There are some good non union contractors. Mostly they are small companies. All tradesmen benefit from the union even if they aren't brothers. Because we keep the value of labor up. We keep the training and level of competency up. Even non union contractors have to stay competitive to keep good workers. I know that many non union contractors are paying scale. This is because of the unions which provide skilled workers at scale. We set the standard.
