I was president of the local chapter of NORML in my youth, and Pierre Trudeau was Canada's Prime Minister. We asked him about decriminalization of Marijuana the killer drug, and he said. I am a politician, the day you can provide me with 51% of the votes in this country, I will enact the legislation.

It wasn't that he had a hard and fast principle at stake, he knew and believed that the Killer Drug wasn't. It was simply what got votes. Too many people on both sides forget that it often isn't about the principles as the politicians claim, it is about votes. That is often all it is about. yes both sides have a side on what they may or may not give us. One side claims to take from the rich, but the rich will continue to get richer while they are in government, the other side claims to fight taxes and want smaller government, but neither one of those is happening either.

Politicians come from all walks of life, and always end up richer than they were when they leave office. They all claim higher morals and how much they can do for us. But unless we demand they keep their promises, they don't, and unfortunately we don't either.
