Wow, that is a very bad event -

>>>>"This is actually happening in some areas, but the government is doing it in a very callous manner. In one situation I know very well, the government has evicted the minority people and is rebuilding a disney version of a minority village, they are then using ethnic vietnamese to play minority tribal people. It boggles the mind."

I would have hoped for the Disney version with the minority tribal people. The Disney version is what you need for tourism on any scale, and it also means the people participating get some access to telephones, electricty, water, a variety of food, paved roads and chances to make some hard currency selling handicrafts, etc.

Tourism may not be the greatest business opportunity - I grew up in Florida, so I have seen lots of down side to tourism - but it sure beats having nothing.
