More expensive they are, right? I have a couple of Canon Pixma 4200 (<$100) and buying those blue (or green?) recycled cartridges at Fry's my printing economy is quite reasonable - while that printer is nothing less than superb on photo paper and second to none on normal paper.
Quite impressive actually as can also be said about the printing features.

I've had four of them. They're great and are getting better every generation.

However, I've been told they're not designed to last forever, like the black-and-white laser printers do.

One of mine has been running just fine for five years now, though.
