BTW, no one is claiming that CO2 is a harmful air pollutant. It is a natural part of our atmosphere. But abnormally elevated amounts of it have undesirable and abnormal consequences for the earth we live on and the oceans that sustain us. That is the real point. We want a renewable and sustainable planet. We don't want to use so many of our planet's resources that we cause it's natural equilibrium to be disrupted, ultimately resulting in a planet that can no longer sustain life. Humans as a species are like a bionic baby. We don't know our own strength to impact the earth. So we do all sorts of things that are long term damaging and we even don't have the intellectual maturity to recognize we're doing the damage even when the data tells us we are. I hope we humans grow up quickly enough to reverse the damage before it reaches the event horizon/point of no return.
