That brings to thought the recent focus on the North American Union which has been in the works mostly behind the scenes for some time now. A united US,Canada and Mexico.

with the American worker getting screwed.

Joining the US would guarantee loss of culture. Not saying it can't or won't happen but it would incredibly stupid.

Unfortunately though I find that Canadian culture is being invaded by US culture most rapidly in Ontario and west..
