The Civil War must have been just terrible to everyone in the country. One other thing I noticed from your link (didn't know about that one, Thanks!) but look at the 10+ MILLION increase of population from 1990 to 2000............We KNOW the birth rate is down, and has been going down since the end of the boomers in 1964..... but check out the site...! (the percentage of increase wasn't as big, but the actual numbers are definitely HUGE!) VOTES, VOTES, VOTES! Remember the Clinton-Gore push for new immigrants and new voters in 1996 and 1998??
