I was thinking along the lines of tickets to 72 virgins... Perhaps the fundamental problem with Islam is that it is polygamous. If the average guy wants more than one wife, than it is useful to have some means of reducing the male/female ratio. Hence Jihad. Its real purpose is to decimate the ranks of the male faithful, to the benefit of the remaining males. The unbelievers are just useful as a vehicle for this end, but not actually of any other significance.
