I know families with one or two children(yes, those former "fetus" thingys) that have never used any sort of chemical birth control...explain that. I don't know these people. But, I know that a good number of Catholics were practicing the 'rhythm method' even though the church didn't explicitly endorse it...but it was commonly understood that this was an 'acceptable' way for Catholic families to say "I've had enough".... As far as other couples, maybe they just don't like sex. Maybe their religion has stifled their sex drive with all the talk about the evils of sex and what a number of religions consider 'perverse' sex. It would be hard to imagine what the world would be like if China did not have population restrictions. 3 billion or more Chinese? I think they'd be pushing their borders to survive, or there would be a massive humanitarian crisis. And not just food: think of the energy requirements necessary, along with all the other goods. We can't just continue to overpopulate and assume that God will take care of us. We need to be responsible with our resources.
