Social Security and Medicare stop at $90k. So depending on what your salary is, it may or may not be taxed with those taxes. Despite the viewpoint of many Californians, California and the federal government are two different entities. You did state the "federal government" as the recipient of those taxes. If you don't like the latter two taxes, we don't have them here like a few other states. A state income tax has been proposed on a number of occasions, but the proposers are usually later found dangling from one or another tree...
