Just 'name recognition' at this stage? (I did hear an interesting argument about Giuliani though over the weekend. Some folks were saying: I doubt there are many Republicans who aren't fully aware of his socially 'liberal' views... so, if they still support him, it's with open eyes, and because they are not 'one issue Republicans' --- despite what the media likes to say about the G.O.P.) And possibly --- just possibly --- they may be considering a (hate to use the term, LOL)... a 'Kerry-style' political accomodation. In other words: nominate someone who is PERCEIVED as being 'electable' in a general election. Same would go for McCain to, I guess. Perceived as being able to pull masses of Independents to his side in the general.
