I should hope that of you and cozmokramer both, though with your post I've new reason to doubt either of you has any good sense. Re: "It was only after the US troops' entry into Iraq that their historical treasure preserved in their museums have been destroyed." Saddam took some of that for his own palaces before we got there. But it survives in the main. Of all reported gone early on in the war, most has been returned. Much of what was counted as stolen, was in fact saved by curators. You can find 2003 headlines from the NYT noting that early loss estimates (and beware, there are sites with linked articles, that haven't been updated since initial estimates!) have been cut in half. Furthermore, in one of the worst ripped off cases, you can find a NYT times headline from 2004 noting that nearly half of what WAS missing, has been recovered. Or a headline from 2006 noting that while some things are still missing there, the collection is incredible! However you slice it, your statement would lead one to believe all historical treasure has been destroyed. That is terribly far from the truth. You write either irresponbsibly, ignorantly, or with intent to lie, I can't decide which. The bulk of the historical treasure of Iraqi museums remains. Re: "Their history os their pride." Here's a brief colorful read, which is highly informative of facts I doubt you realize:olimu.com And if you've finished that, you just might ask yourself just how prideful are the looters of archeological sites in Iraq? Re: "we just entered their country and "stood by and watched" as their museums were destroyed, etc.etc." Again, the bulk of Iraq's museum pieces remain, and any and all implications to the contrary in your words above, is utterly false. The "Museums" weren't "destroyed." Despite the damage done, we've done much to preserve them in fact, rather than "stand by and watch." It's a terrible thing when your arguments are so terribly false Chinu...You and cozmokramer are like two peas in a pod. The bottom line here is that even if you weren't specious as hell in your accusations here, even if you accurately wrote of the many harmed museums in Iraq, "etc. etc.," you wouldn't alter my point that the whole coin reveals we've accomplished MANY good works in Iraq, and created strong friends indeed.
