Bush-Cheney are the ones who politicized the war. Rove used it as a giant operatic Nazi-style epic backdrop to turn draft-dodging rich kid GW Bush into the great Conqueror and avenger. Remember the "Mission Accomplished" campaign photo op with Bush lying that he flew the jet, while fitted with a giant codpiece? At the same time, Rove made sure that all honest Americans who dared to question Bush-Cheney's lies and poor planning were called "cowards and traitors", people who didn't care about national defense, who were weak and soft on terror, who were even on the terrorist's side, appeasers and un-Americans. That wass how they stole the 2002 midterms, by creating this big dishonest myth, then using it as a political club. And in 2004, they used it again. That was the purpose of the whole smear campaign against Kerry, trying to turn the honest war hero into a dishonest cowardly traitor. They tried once more in 2006, but by then people were fed up and weren't buying their BS anymore. By then, only an idiot still supported Bush-Cheney and their dishonest failed war.
