Canada was on its way to unparalleled prosperity, and I now see that the country has an absolute genius for legislating itself into inferiority. Despite that, despite its best efforts, it won't manage to screw itself up quite as badly as the United States has done. Canada's incredible wealth of natural resources will bail it out somewhat. Canadians, I reluctantly am forced to conclude, are Beverly Hillbillies: ridiculous but harmless. United States citizens are stupid and dangerous jerks. I prefer an even-handed treatment. In future posts I will take up Russians, French, Chinese, Australians, Brits, Cayman Islanders, and many others.
