My mother told me I didn't have to go, but I told her I wanted to go touch a dead person...what a lovely child I was. We are too disassociated from death in our culture. Used to be, people died at home, with their family around. Now we pack them off to die in the hospital or hospice. Everyone should have the experience of being around a few dead people, since it's a condition we will all come to experience eventually in any event.
