Kyros, I was making fun of such dopey numbers as "1 every four days", which are used to make readers think "Oh that's awful". I just did more of the same, to show that farmers in Australia are really happy compared with 747s of Japanese killing themselves.

Suicide figures should be expressed per 100 or per capita. Making us find out how many farmers there are, then comparing that to other suicide rates, before we know whether the suicide rate is bad or not is silly.

Such thinking is common in all sorts of areas. I suppose all areas.
