What a hard decision that must be. On the one hand you don't want to disobey your mom, but on the other you want to do what is most practical and honor your dad's wishes. Hard choices all around.

My BIL caused quite a stir in the family.

The dad (my wife's dad) had been an avid golfer. He'd always said he wanted his ashes spread on the golf course he frequented.

BIL said he'd do it, and represented to family that is what he'd done.

After my wife's mom died 4 years ago, we found out the BIL had scattered dad's ashes in the Colorado mountains, which were important to the BIL, but not in any way to dad.

There are still hard feelings about that.
