I didn't say that. That was never my proposition. If you can't even get the basics correct...why do you bother?

And I'm not interested in your never ending "what ifs" either.

"What if" your aunt had balls? Would you call her your uncle?

Let's start with your proposition: no one should be compelled to "serve their country."

You explain it so succinctly cnyndwllr... Thanks for
trying your best to enlighten those on this site who continue, in spite of all that you have posted to them, to retain their resistance to reality and maintain their unsupported arguments..

By the way, I have a hard time with remembering cnyndwllr.. What does it stand for . It may help me to correlate the name meaningfully.

I'm not sure 'compelled' is the best label for conscripting individuals into military service. 'Forced into military service' or 'coerced into military service' might be more applicable terms.

"I'm betting that if we get to that point a chicken hawk like you will be all for the compulsory service of others ..."

There are, as you suggest, volunteers who have a change of heart and for which rewards and incentives may not be adequate to compel them to continue. There is a lighted tunnel out of this problem. Freedom of Conscious is a natural right to all human beings. It is a violation of human nature to be forced to perform a duty that poses a personal conflict to your conscience.
