"have done nothing, except let the lives of tax paying Citizens of Canada, and their health and safety be threatened by the Federal Governments complete ineptness."

I can't argue with that, but I don't see how that is any different from any other example of federal government ineptness. How many people died of cancer because the feds spent 2 billion on a useless database instead of MRI machines? How much lower could taxes be now if we didn't have to pay interest on debt? How many people died of hospital acquired infections because of incomplete hygiene in health facilities (hint, it's more than car accidents, workplace accidents and murders combined)? Why aren't people as outraged about thousands of actual deaths as you are about inconvenience and risk to a single community?

I can tell you that if I were PM, I'd be happy if I could slow the growth in government ineptness, never mind control it, in my first term in a minority government. I certainly wouldn't want to tackle major constitutional issues like aboriginal land claims. The government would fall regardless of what it tried to do. Maybe Harper is just being realistic by picking battles he can win (or, as in the "nation" motion, pre-emptively striking to limit his losses).
