Bush was asked about Iraq meeting with Iran the other day and he said hey, they are a sovereign country with their own foreign policy. Sounded to me like he was paving the rhetorical path for starting to back away from Maliki a bit and not be responsible for the chaos to come in Iraq.

We certainly couldn't presume to guide a government change inside Iraq at this point. Anyone who came to power in the wake of our stepping in would just be target practice for all the warring sides.
