Truth be told, my main reasoning for caring about the environment is that if we do all the right things that are good for the environment, like transforming our economy into one based on renewable energy, then that does more for our economy and national security to free us from the world's worst terrorist Muslim dictatorship nations than anything we can accomplish with our military. I'd dearly love to see our country released from the slavery of dependence on those madmen over there. The environment to me is just icing on the cake, because heck I'll be dead when the sh!t hits the fan on the environment. However, I do have children whom I'd like to leave a legacy of a beautiful earth to.
