We might hit a softspot temporarily in Q1 2007 - as we observed from the past Q1 is usually a pullback but than Vista will kick in and also the 2008 games will be a big deal for ASIA.

With motherboard shipments going down due to weak demand during the wait for Microsoft's Vista operating system (OS), several designers of PC-related ICs may see their November revenues drop about 10% sequentially, according to industry sources.

The IC designers who may see sales down in November include Ene Technology, Richtek Technology, and Global Media Technology (GMT), the sources said.

At the beginning of November, channels and system builders continued to pile up their IC stock in anticipation of strong demand that they thought would be generated by Vista, ignoring the fact that demand in the PC market was actually slowing, the sources said. Up to mid-November, demand for ICs stayed at levels similar to those in October, the sources said.

But as motherboard makers continue seeing shipments decline, the channels and system builders are now conservative about December, the sources said. The market predicts that Vista-generated demand will not pick up until the second quarter of 2007, the sources noted.
