The Trabant certainly was a special car. Some copies are still around, often with Volkswagen Polo engines. The exhaust fumes of the original model with a two-stroke engine were unbearable. The usual delivery time of a Trabant was about 15 years. Prospective buyers had to be "creative" if they wanted to speed it up.
