No it's not caused by unions. Toyota pays Americans near union scale to build Toyotas in America. How come they're not shutting down and laying off? There's only a small differential in wages and benefits. Thanks to UAW, the employees at Toyota get good wages, because they help to establish the going rate for labor. Here's why Ford is laying off. Price of Gas has been going up...did you recall? And the sales of trucks and SUV's is going way down.
