Interesting - my experiences with Muslims were all in that broader world where the Muslims were often a minority. I can't recall a single hostile attitude about religious issues ever. Maybe it makes a difference when Muslims are part of a more diverse society.

I have never had a negative experience with a person of the Muslim faith. They may, indeed, hate us "generically"- as I said, in that sports team sort of way you hate people, but one on one they don't. So perhaps we are talking about the same thing? After all, if you look around on SI you will find conservatives, as I did yesterday, wishing that WMD attacks would only kill liberals- so they hate people like me generically, but I'm sure in person they would be quite charming.

That kind of hate is not the kind of hate that extremist killers have, imo. Extremist "car bomb" suicide bomber hate is a different kettle of fish. IMO, of course. (Though I do think that kind of hate can be used by extremist killers, if given the opportunity to use it).
