Any initial coprocessors are going to be Socket 1207 because the initial market is going to be servers and workstations. Given that AM2 doesn't have a cHTT port, there will have to be a new socket for the consumer market anyway.

Oops...

New socket, you say, to put back the functionality that was in the product to begin with, that was short-sightedly eliminated?

But wait, it is not that simple. It seems that AM2 -> AM3 transition was thought through, and some forward functionality was built in (pin compatibility). But if Torrenza is to be enabled for consumer market, more pins will be required to put back the HT links, and this forward compatibility may need to be sacrificed.

Or even better. How about AM2 -> AM3 -> AMx announcement with Torrenza functionality to freeze the market waiting for AMx? Worked with Socket 939 announcement...
