I don't do manipulation/conspiracy theories - but I wouldn't argue against you on this point.

Have you noticed that the real estate banks - DSL, LEND, etc. - have been weak. Logic would dictate that if we have really bottomed in real estate, that they would follow the homies upwards. This pours a little gasoline on your manipulation fire theory. One doesn't see much discussion of the banks in the financial press - not relative to the homies. Unless TOL, HOV etc are going into the home lending business, those new houses won't move w/o a bank. Last I heard, those homies were letting land options expire - not a posture which suggests a foray into banking.
