That could have attributed to my myopia. I spent hours reading books, magazines, newspapers anything I could get my hands on when I was a kid. We were rather poor and my only source of books before starting school was the Bookmobile. It came around once a month and I remember running to the corner so I could be the first one in line.

Really...........there weren't very many who showed up now that I think about it. I don't know if it was because they were at work........I grew up in a working class neighborhood........or that there just wasn't any interest? I just remember marking the date on the calendar in the kitchen and anxiously counting the days. I had to read and re-read the books I got because they only allowed me two.

I loved the smell and feel and the contents of books.
