Alberta has a 39% highest marginal tax rate, and BC 43.5% -- I don't think it is so far off the US. We spend quite a bit less as a percentage of GDP on health care, and businesses here get the benefit of not having to fork out for what in the US are outrageously escalating costs for health care premiums. We are not burdened with the same level of military expandatures as the US, and our overall debt situation has shifted in our favour recently. I could certainly see the US being forced to increase tax rates in the future, and Canada being able to drop theirs, all things being equal.
