You're quoting Joe, not me. As for that slide, though, AMD is hoping to get a small bump from platform improvements in 2008 (think AM3 vs AM2+), not a new core architecture.

That performance analysis seems to suggest no new core in 2008 (see no improvement in HPC performance) but several improvements in server performance. This seems to suggest mainly effects of Direct Connect Architecture 2.0.

I reviewed the roadmaps posted on epscontest site here:
epscontest.com

and there is only a "core update" for desktop ane what was confusing to me was "next gen core" for mobile.

It would be strange to debut a new core for mobile. Maybe all that means is that K8L variant will move to mobile only in 2008.
